Foster Contemporary Garden

After a new contemporary extension was added onto the house the garden was designed and landscaped to create an indoor-outdoor living space. Concrete effect porcelain tiles flow from inside to out through generous sliding doors, leading from the kitchen inside to the kitchen outside. A pizza oven is situated on bespoke outdoor kitchen units that appear to flow out from inside. A dining area is tucked in a sunken section at the side of the extension. A bespoke cedar clad shed with a covered seating area and firepit was created to enjoy the garden late into the evening when the garden is lit up at night with a lighting scheme. A bespoke play zone has also been created for the children with a climbing wall, slide monkey bars and parallel bars. The garden is finished with a small central lawn and lush planting, with a mix of small trees, shrubs and perennials to look good year round.

Bespoke shed and covered seating area

Rather than staring out at a bland standard shed PLT created this design. A bespoke cedar clad shed and covered seating area with a green roof. The covered seating area has bespoke cedar and Corten steel wood store benches and a Corten fire bowl. A hole in the roof allows smoke to rise up and escape. LED strip lighting illuminates the space at night. A rain chain allows water to drain from the green roof and collect in a water butt to be used in the garden.

Appledown contemporary garden

This contemporary space was designed into a split level garden to deal with the original awkward slope to the garden. Sandstone paving is used for the patio with timber sleepers retaining the raised lawn. A decking pathway leads up to the garage. A mix of shrubs and perennials were used to create a lush planting scheme with year round interest. A utility area containing a shed and bin store was created in an unused part of the garden at the side of the house and this was screened from view with contemporary slated screens and shade tolerant planting.

Abingdon Contemporary shades of grey

What was a blank canvas of tired lawn and concrete path was revamped with a contemporary design in cool shades of grey. Grey sandstone paving was used and complimented by the slate clad raised beds and feature wall. A contemporary water feature was also included in the design. A planting scheme was created using shrubs and perennials for year round interest and three feature Amelanchier trees.

Oxford contemporary

After having a contemporary extension added, the tired old garden needed a new design to bring it in line with the style and quality of the house. From design to build we created a new stunning contemporary garden with raised composite decking, porcelain paved areas, water feature and wildlife friendly contemporary pond, new lawn and planting borders and bespoke bin and log stores with green roofs.

Japanese style garden

The client wanted a low maintenance garden based on a Japanese theme. The original garden was a blank canvas as the house had just been built, however there was a considerable slope to the garden and it was quite overlooked. The design was based on a Japanese ‘Karesansui’ or dry landscape garden. To remove the slope the garden was tiered into an upper and lower level using large purbeck rocks. A dry river bed runs diagonally across the garden. Stepping stones allow access to the garden, with a Japanese style wooden humpback bridge crossing the dry river bed. This leads to an arbour in the corner, a place to sit, relax and enjoy views of the garden. Another seating area is located in the top corner of the garden next to a railway sleeper focal point. The planting scheme is low maintenance, being predominantly evergreen and offering all year round interest. Three feature blossoming Cherry trees were planted to further enhance the Japanese feel and prevent the garden from being overlooked. The end result is a calm and serene garden to sit and relax in and enjoy the different views.

Culham Cottage Garden

A garden we designed to create a wildlife friendly cottage style garden. A new pond was created with a curved clay paver pathway sweeping through the garden leading to an outdoor room and raised vegetable beds..
